Social OPEX™

(Social Operating Experience)

New nuclear projects face two kinds of risk: technical and social.  The industry has spent decades building rigorous systems to manage technical risk, learning from operating experience and sharing that learning across organizations and borders. But social risk, the risk that comes from missed engagement opportunities, eroded trust, misaligned expectations, and reputational damage, is often managed reactively, inconsistently, or not at all.

 

Social OPEX™ explores: "What if the nuclear industry applied a similar approach to social performance?"

 

Social OPEX™, a framework being developed by Wild Matriarch, brings the principles of operating experience to the social dimensions of nuclear projects. We begin by bringing together engagement, impact assessment, communication, and regulatory practitioners to learn from one another, identify patterns, and build collective insight. Social OPEX™ draws not only from within the nuclear sector but from other industries navigating similar challenges. The goal is to treat social performance with the same intentionality the nuclear industry brings to safety, operational and technical challenges, so that projects can anticipate and manage social risk before it becomes a barrier to progress.
